Abstracts

We are pleased to invite submission of abstracts for the following oral and poster presentations:

  • Clinical Lessons
  • Basic Scientific Research
  • Clinical Scientific Research

Closing date for submissions: Midnight on Sunday 19th August 2018.

All successful and unsuccessful authors will be notified by Wednesday 19th September 2018.
If your abstract is successful you will be required to register for the conference as a paying delegate.

To submit your abstract, please click here.

Note:

After creating your login you will see specific instructions for completing your abstract on the submission form. The maximum word count is 600 words. You will have the option to select whether you wish your abstract to be considered for oral presentation, poster presentation or either.

Basic Scientific Research or Clinical Scientific Research abstracts should be submitted using the following headings: Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion. Please skip the Clinical Case Diagnosis section.

For abstracts in the Clinical Case category, please use the sections Introduction, Methods and Discussion but instead of entering the Results, we would ask you to use the separate Clinical Case Diagnosis section instead. This section will not be published and will therefore allow the conference attendees the opportunity to guess the diagnosis before it is revealed.

Introduction: Clearly state the purpose of the abstract

Methods: Describe your selection of observations or experimental subjects clearly

Results: Present your results in a logical sequence in text (tables and illustrations are not permitted)

Discussion: Emphasize new and important aspects of the study and conclusions that are drawn from them

Abstracts which have already been presented/published with no updates or additional analyses are not generally accepted at FIS. However, where there are some previously published results along with some new data or analyses and presented with updated interpretation, the Scientific Committee will consider abstracts for acceptance.

There will be Festival tickets, awarded to trainees submitting abstracts, selected for poster presentation (1 ticket per poster). These will be judged as “the top 100”. Trainees will need to be registered to attend the conference.

Please contact derry@hartleytaylor.co.uk if you have any questions about abstract submissions.

Poster guidelines and instructions will be posted here once notifications have been sent.
