Late Breaker Abstract Submissions

We are pleased to invite late breaker abstract submissions to allow anyone with exciting work who missed the original deadline the chance to submit an abstract for poster presentation at FIS 2018.

Submissions will open at 09.00 on Monday 1st October 2018 and close at 12 noon on Monday 15th October 2018.

Notifications for late breaker abstracts will follow as soon as possible during the week commencing 22nd October 2018.

If your submission is successful you will be required to register for the conference as a paying delegate. An extension of the early-bird registration fee will be offered until Wednesday 31st October with instructions about how to register at this rate included with notifications.

To submit a late breaker abstract, please click here after 09.00 on 1st October.

Note: After creating your login you will see specific instructions for completing your abstract on the submission form. The maximum word count is 600 words. Abstracts submitted in this window will only be considered for poster presentation.

Please contact derry@hartleylor.co.uk if you have any questions about abstract submissions.

Posters: Guidelines and Instructions

The maximum size of finished posters should be:

  • Width: 95 cm (950 mm)
    Height: 150 cm (1500 mm)

We would recommend that posters are produced in PORTRAIT format.

If you are producing your poster to a specific paper size, A0 will fit in portrait format.

Please ensure that your poster DOES NOT exceed these dimensions or it will not fit onto the allocated poster board.

  • Posters will be displayed by category and poster numbers allocated accordingly. Poster numbers will be posted on each board and you will be provided with instructions on the location of the poster boards and your poster number(s) at registration. Posters MUST be mounted on the assigned board. A full list of posters to be displayed will be published on the FIS website in advance of the conference.
  • Posters may be put up from 08.30 on Tuesday 13th November and MUST be removed by 14.30 on Thursday 15th November. Any posters left behind after this time may be thrown away.
  • As your poster may be viewed at distances as far as 3 feet or more, we would recommend that lettering should be large enough to be read from this distance, preferably in an easy-to-read font.
  • Please do not mount your poster on heavy board as this will make it difficult to keep in position on the poster board.
  • The only product which can be used to affix poster to the boards is hook Velcro. The Conference Organisers will have a limited supply, but it is recommended that you bring your own with you.

Poster Walks

There are designated Poster Walks in the programme which will focus on specific topics (see list below). Authors should be beside their poster(s) during the relevant session to answer any questions from delegates.

Some posters will be selected by the Poster Walk Leads for presentation during each Poster Walk. A list of these poster numbers will be displayed in the Registration Area each day.
